Hyaluronic Acid. - Apolo & Artemis Beauty

All You Need to Know About Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic Acid seems to be in two of every three skin products now. And there is a reason why it is so popular! While not all formulas are the same quality and have different percentages of real Hyaluronic Acid, we can’t deny the benefits of this molecule.

What is Hyaluronic Acid?

Foremost, you need to know we produce this compound naturally. Our bodies use it as a moisturizer, acting as a cushioning and lubrication agent for our joints, nerves, hair, skin, and eyes.

This sugar molecule also helps to bind water to collagen, trapping it in the skin, and making it look plumper, dewier, and more hydrated.

The issue here is that with age, environmental factors, and unhealthy habits, production decreases. The good news is that it works pretty well when applied topically!

How to Apply Hyaluronic Acid?

As we stated before, you can get a good amount of Hyaluronic Acid by using a rich moisturizer or serum. Apply it twice or three times a week through a soft massage and let it breathe for a few seconds before sunscreen.

Nevertheless, if you are looking for a stronger and faster effect, you can study some injectable options -also known as fillers - with a dermatologist. Don’t be scared! Hyaluronic Acid shots are nothing like Botox.

Actually, benefits show immediately but dissolve in weeks, and in case of a rash reaction, it can be reversed.

Are There Side Effects?

Hyaluronic Acid is especially recommended for mature or dry skin types, but it’s safe to use for everyone! According to a study, creams, serums, and moisturizers are not known for causing side effects.

Hyaluronic Acid fillers are different. The most common adverse effects might include pain, bruising, redness, itching, and swelling and typically last no more than seven days.
