Morning And Night Skin Care Routine | Apollo & Artemis Beauty

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MORNING AND NIGHTTIME SKIN CARE ROUTINES?

Most know that maintaining both a morning and nighttime skincare routine is important for good skin health. But should you use the same products both day and night? Are different products better suited toward morning use as opposed to nighttime use? And which products should you use twice a day? In this blog, we’ll break it all down!

Basic routine

First, let’s discuss which products you should be using both morning and night. Cleansing should be happening twice a day. Dirt accumulates and can clog pores and cause other issues, and of course, you want a clean slate upon which to place your other products! As long as you don’t have sensitive skin, exfoliation is another step you should be doing both morning and night. You can do this by using a product with an exfoliant inside or a gentle exfoliating pad while cleansing. Exfoliation helps slough off dead skin cells and unclogs pores for fresher-looking, clearer skin.

Extras like eye cream and products that target specific concerns, including spot treatments, can be used both in the morning and night, as long as they don’t contain ingredients that make your skin more sensitive to the sun. Serums are rich formulations that allow components to reach deeper beyond the skin’s surface and are well-suited for morning and night use. And moisturizing both morning and night will keep skin soft and hydrated and combat the minor signs of aging that can come from under-hydrated skin.

Morning routine

So, what skincare products should you use primarily in the morning? Not much in the way of skincare is only used in the daytime. One of these is sunscreen. Sunscreen is, of course, important in the day but not needed at night. Put sunscreen on your face and all parts of your skin that are exposed to the sun. This step should come after you cleanse and moisturize but before you put on your makeup. Also, some moisturizers have an SPF value for sun protection built into the product. These are usually labeled a daytime moisturizer, and you should choose some other moisturizing product for the night.

Nighttime routine

As for skincare products that are better suited to nighttime, there are several. Certain products contain ingredients that make your skin more sensitive to the sun’s UV rays. These include ingredients such as retinol, and products containing them are better used at night to avoid sensitivity issues. Some products are also specifically formulated for nighttime use. These are often heavier, thicker creams that would be uncomfortable if used during the day. And, of course, products like makeup removers are only necessary at night.

What ingredients are well-suited to both day and night use?

When looking for skincare products to incorporate into both halves of your routine, there are certain ingredients you should look for. One of these is antioxidants. Antioxidants are ideally suited for both your morning and nighttime skincare routine. In the morning, they help protect your skin from sun damage. Used overnight, they help repair any damage to your skin by counteracting free radicals. Hyaluronic acid is a powerhouse of a moisturizer and can be used both morning and night for intense hydration.

So using the same products morning and night is generally acceptable, but remember that certain products are better for specifically morning or night usage.
